Origins
The New York Knicks had their origins in 1946 in what was then known as the BAA, the new basketball league in the USA at the time. They were awarded Madison Square Garden, and Ned Irish (who would later be inducted into the Hall Of Fame of the NBA) was one of the founders of the team.
Its glorious period
The 91-92 season was Pat Riley's first at the helm of the New York Knicks after his glorious stint with the Lakers in the 1980s. Pat Ewing and John Starks were the stars of that team, who quickly understood Riley's style and began to play a tough, rocky game, becoming the nightmare of many opponents. They couldn't beat the Bulls Jordan, but it was undoubtedly one of the most successful periods in the recent history of the Knicks.
