Its beginnings
Skechers is an American footwear manufacturing company headquartered in Manhattan Beach, California. It was founded by Robert Greenberg, the same man who created the LA Gear shoe brand. After selling the brand in 1992, Greenberg started Skechers with his son as a distributor for Dr. Martens, with whom he launched his first line of shoes in 1995.
Skechers at present
The first products from Skechers were Dr. Martens-style boots and suede skater shoes. Over time, the company has diversified to include thousands of casual and athletic footwear styles sold in separate lines, with ambassadors such as Joel Embiid.
